This large scheme was designed in 2021 for a period property in the Hampshire countryside. The existing site was sloped and included a large area of lawn and occasional areas of shrub planting.
This design brought a sense of drama and movement to the space, creating numerous areas of intrigue and interest. An area of terrace leads to a raised symmetric area of lawn, surrounded by mixed planting. Pathways on either side of the raised lawn lead to a pergola walkway on one side and to a heritage orchard on the other. The heritage orchard was designed to include as many historical and local fruit trees as possible. A serpentine path travels through the orchard, from where a boardwalk takes you over an area of bog garden. The boardwalk takes an asymmetric route to a river that backs onto the garden.
